Her comments have sparked outrage from the BJP, leading to a war of words between the two parties.
On Saturday, a Delhi court summoned former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and her daughters, including Misa Bharti, in a money laundering case. In response to this development, Misa Bharti made a series of comments about Modi's alleged role in the Gujarat riots of 2002. She claimed that Modi should have been jailed for his actions during that period.
The BJP has strongly condemned Misa Bharti's remarks, calling them "irresponsible and inflammatory." The party's spokesperson, Sambit Patra, accused her of trying to divert attention from the money laundering case against her family. Patra also claimed that her statements were an attempt to appease the Muslim vote bank.
The RJD has defended Misa Bharti's comments, stating that she was merely expressing her personal views. Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and Lalu Yadav's younger son, refused to comment on the matter when asked by reporters.
The controversy has further deepened the rift between the BJP and the RJD, the two main political parties in Bihar. The BJP has demanded an apology from Misa Bharti and the RJD for her remarks, while the RJD has accused the BJP of trying to silence her.
