Calendar: What investors need to know for the week ahead

Monday

The Minneapolis Fed hosts a conference on the future of payments at 1 p.m. ET.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas releases its 2022 Texas Economic Outlook at 2 p.m. ET.

Tuesday

The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its monthly Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey at 10 a.m. ET. Also, ADP releases its National Employment Report, a private measure of payrolls, at 8:15 a.m. ET.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the Boston Consulting Group, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology release their U.S. Venture Capital Index at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Fed Governor Christopher Waller speaks at 1 p.m. ET.

Wednesday

The Federal Reserve releases the minutes of its November meeting at 2 p.m. ET. Investors will be looking for clues about the central bank's plans for interest rates and quantitative easing, the asset purchase program it announced in March 2020 to support the economy during the pandemic.

The National Association of Realtors releases its monthly existing home sales data at 10 a.m. ET.

Fed Governor Michelle Bowman speaks at 11 a.m. ET.

Thursday

The Bureau of Economic Analysis releases its second estimate of third-quarter GDP at 8:30 a.m. ET. Gross domestic product (GDP) is the value of all goods and services produced in the United States. Investors will be looking for clues about the strength of the economy.

The Department of Labor releases its weekly initial jobless claims data at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Fed Governor Christopher Waller speaks at 1 p.m. ET.

Friday

The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its monthly employment report for November at 8:30 a.m. ET. This is one of the most important economic reports of the month, and investors will be looking for signs of wage growth and labor market strength.

The Consumer Price Index, a measure of inflation, is released at 8:30 a.m. ET.
